RupjyotiTalukdar is currently working as a Clinical Pancreatologist and Clinician Scientist at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and Asian Healthcare Foundation (Research Wing of AIG), Hyderabad. He completed his postgraduation in Internal Medicine from Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati in 2003; after which he did senior residency in Gastroenterology at the PushpawatiSinghania Research Institute in New Delhi. In early 2007, he joined the University of Minnesota, Mineapolis, USA as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate and worked on the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis in experimental models. In 2008, he joined Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA as an advanced GI-Pancreatology Fellow. He also worked as an Instructor of Medicine at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.

He is actively engaged in clinical and bench research in the field of pancreatology and has published extensively in reputed international and national scientific journals.

1. Early assessment of severity and outcome predictions in clinical acute pancreatitis.

2. Molecular events in human acute pancreatitis and how it leads to systemic inflammatory response.

3. Neurobiologic and oxidative pain mechanisms in chronic pancreatitis and identification of drug targets.

4. MicroRNA based approach to study pain mechanisms in chronic pancreatitis.

5. Early beta cell dysfunction and relation to IFN-gamma producing cells in chronic pancreatitis.

6. Double blinded randomized controlled trial of pregabalin and antioxidant cocktail combination in the treatment of pain in chronic pancreatitis.

7. Randomized controlled trial on the efficacy of enteral glutamine in predicted severe acute pancreatitis.

8. Study of the Gut microflora in ethnic tribes of Northeast India and Andhra Pradesh (under the Twinning grant from Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India)
